What is the differences between Endlicheri and Delhezi (Polypterus)

Hiya there, what is the differences of both species? i've seen the picture of both and they look the same to me...

Can somebody pin point for me what is their differences? I was wondering wether some dealers in my area has delhezi or endlicheri...

they are both different colors

endy brown /black gets to 24+inch
delhazi grey/black gets to 12inch

if you have seen pics its easy to spot the difference unless you are color blind

Here is a photo of a delhezi and an endy congicus side by side, they look nothing alike.

I think you have seen endlicheri endlicheri which when small markings can look like delhezi.Usually besides jaw the stripes on endlicheri endlicheri are wider and more pronounced.As Anne said jaw line is dead giveaway,and foolproof.

even with the mottled bits on an endi endi, they look nothing like a delhezi.

Heres a good body shot (but blurry head) of a delhezi. Their pattern ranges from dark bold straight stripes, to almost patternless, to curvy stripes, to some that are wide band.

Here is a p. endlicheri. Usually thicker stripes, but rarely black stripes

You can clearly see the lower jaw protrusion here

Take a good look, it should be pretty easy to determine the difference

Pics posted by street cyhper is more clearly distinguished the difference...what i meant by they looks the same is the marking...

Pics posted by rumblesushi, the endlicheri have no markings...i probably have seen endlicheri w/ markings...that's why i said it looks almost the same...

As Anne (beblondie) correctly noted, delhezi are protruding upper jaw bichirs while endlicheri are protruding lower jaw bichirs. What that generally means is that delhezi, like senegalus, palmas, weeksi, ornatipinnis, etc., have round heads, while endlicheri, like congicus and lapradei, have flat heads.
