they vary. Some max at 10"(unknown weight).

Some get bigger but I've never seen one over 12" With true measurements by/with a RULER.

I always thought my old friend's FH was 14" but when measured, it's 12"..

And people are a lot of times inaccurate with their exaggerations of what they have without a Ruler measurment

the silk in my avatar is 18" But it's not real itt's a drawing

Thanks for the answer!
Yes, you’re right about the size of flowerhorns, most of the time people does unaccurate measurements well not in my case. It’s easy for me to measure my pet. My tank is curvy type and the sides are wide 11,5 inches and my flowerhorn is slightly longer than the tank side.

Here some pictures as proves. As you see it’s very hard to take a perfect position of his body, the fish bend his tall and it isn’t in straight position.

I have seen a few JUMBO specimens that were approx. 15". I have owned, and still own fish that are 12", and have been keeping fish for decades, so I understand the difference. :) I have also seen midas (or RD x Midas cross?) that was the same size. Not common, but most certainly there are some uber large specimens out there.
