what is the minumum tank size for a pair of haitien?

180 or 6'x2'x2'. IMO, but you could get them by in a 125, or 6'x18"x25". males get 16" so that's stretching out 125's.

ooh really??
i have a 5 foot 125 gallon.
how long do you think a pair could live in that.
more then likely i'll have a 150 or 180 by the time the fish gets full grown.

what is the width of your 125? if it's 20"-24" your fine. 18"s decent.

They aren't the fastest growing species, so even a 75g can handle a pair for quite some time. So 2-3 years easily.

really?
i have a 77 gallon 125 gallon and 20 gallon
and on may 7th i'm picking up another 75 gallon
the width of the 125 is 18 yess.
i'm looking into haitiens though.
i wanna raise a bunch, maybe sell a few of them in edmonton.
i don't believe there is one person in all of alberta, canada who has a haitien.
but a friend of mine can get fry for me.

Well most cichlids will grow slow if you start getting to spawn at an early age. Mine are between 8-9" and they are close to 2 years old.

really, my oscar is still under 10 months and he/she is about 8 or 9 inches.
i'm starting to think my oscar is a female though.
she may be developing hole in the head and i can save her right now.
i'm in the process of getting her to my friends house, i just need to get a bag.

but yee, pair haitiensis would be pretty amazing to keep.

If you have water problems or diet issues that cause HITH in an oscar, you might want to rethink getting haitiensis. You're going to need good quality foods, lots of filtration and steady routine of large water changes. They aren't the easiest species to raise from fry to adulthood. Very aggressive with each other and can be susceptible to bloat.

And I'm pretty sure there are a couple people in Alberta that has haitiensis.

two friends of mine have em dakota.
the only two people in the province with them.
they guy i got my umbee off of has the most gorgeous specimen ive ever seen.
probably close to a foot.
and they need high temps.
fast water
and it needs to be drinkable.
thats how clean it needs to be.
