Just goofing, but I wanted to know what other keepers find attractive about the genus. Please specify collection points, variants, or a particular complex ie. Laguna De Apoyo. They definately comprise some of my favorite CA's. I am sure I left out several, and there have been many taxonomy changes from Atatheros, cichliasoma...etc. I am leanting towards a Zapatera Labiatus, but I also think a large Istlanum is probably the most attractive in the genus. What are your thoughts.

I have kept only about 5 Amphilophines so far, including the solid pink strain (which I find the least interesting.
But I found even as a kid the pink kissing gouramis less desirable than the normal color, and later with Petenia splendida, it was easy to get the mundane pink, as opposed to the most interesting natural morph.

He was an awesome fish with a great personality and got a massive nuchal hump. I actually liked the mutt better than one of his tankmates, a true midas
