The one fish you will always have in your tank(s) at any one time.

Mine would be a convict, even though they are terrors, and interbreed and generally just ruin everything; my aquarium doesn't feel complete without one

Jack Dempsey for me probably or convict. The jack fits well into either my aggressive tanks or my semi aggressive ones. Doesn't typically start stuff but not easily killed either. Cons just cause I like them. View attachment 1034652
I also usually keep an oscar if space allows or a amph usually a midevil
And a vieja is always a component in my tanks
