My pair of jack dempseys have been acting so weird and inactive... They refuse to eat and I don't get it.. My ph is same as always 7.5..the rest of my numbers are at o..with nitrates at 5 Pristine water conditions.. And every once in awhile they come out and bang themselves off decorations In the tank... No signs off ick

what are nitrates?

nitrates should never be 0

Well no they are out and about.. Lol they are a little over a year old.

In my experience with the Jd they can get pretty shy. When I worked at the lfs we had donations of large jack demspeys all the time. And people were always dropping them off for the same reason, because they were shy.

is it a male and a female? again pics be great,

I had about three Jd's over the years and one now about 2.5". My experience is they are low key. I always have a convict with mine. Convicts are active tough fish
