Im about to set up my 180 Gal and i just cant live without a ray =-) i want one that looks awesome and dosent get too big so i could get a pair. what do you guys think i should get? any ideas on filtration that arent going to break the bank?

well to be totally honest no ray should/could live in a 180 for life.
you could get away with some of the smaller types of rays for probably a year or 2 but not much more, provided you dont power feed it/them. this is also providing that you keep up on your water changes.
if your looking for nice looking small rays you might want to check out the hystrix rays. they are pretty darn cool looking and get to be around 10-14inch disk size.
as for filtration your going to want to get yourself a sump, either make one which is pretty easy or buy one if your are no good at DIY.
along with the sump you could probably add a canister or 2 or something like 2 AC110s for added mechanical filtration.

The 3 smallest FW rays known to man. All get around a 12in, 14in tops.

P.Hystrix: very nice looking ray, semi difficult to get, expensive.

P.Scobina: decent looking ray, smallest of the 3, very very hard to find.

P.Reticulata: Not the prettiest ray, very very easy to get, cheap !!!!

Sounds like Reticulated ray is the best fit for you, usually run about $60. Do a search on the forums, you will find pics and how to care for them.
