Good luck getting an intermedia that been on the wanted list for a long time. Your best bet is to go with a wild caught kelberi. The ones jeff rapps has now should stop at about 15. And you have been told wrong mono and occel both will get well over 20 inches and would top out closer to 24

There was a batch of Intermedia that came in at one time, not this last batch which turned out to be Temensis; if you look through a few older members threads, Mike at H20Custom Aquatics and Li had a couple. Someone said they all died though. They're extremely hard to get; but they may come back in sooner or later.

Here's a video of an intermedia. They need very high oxygen levels and are prone to hith. They also live at lower the temps than most cichla
as their natural habitat is in mountain streams. I'm not sure though how well documented their size is and if they actually do stay smaller than kelberi.
Anyway, the chances of getting one are slim, not as slim as getting a fogo, but almost. Most of the time, you end up paying $300 for a temensis.
