What is the white fuzz that grows on fish?

My fish dont have it now but previous fish have had a fuzzy moldy looking stuff that grows on them what is that called Nd how does it come about? Thanks guys
 
its a type of fungus. from what i know in previous experiance, my pal has a convict n it gt attacked by his FH n after a week, and with out treatments or care, it grew white fluffy fungus on the wound.

dnt take this the rong way but i see it as negligence, bcus as far as i know it onli appears when injured.

sorry if this affends you but thats how i see it

No offense taken my friend i just appreciate your response. I was just curious and my xperience was from years ago when i was new to fishkeeping so it was probably negligence
