looks like a filter basket from a magnum 350?

It looks the internal basket for a marineland HOT (Hang On Tank) power filter.

A very useful basket, too. Mine is full of sponges and tiny, crushed lava rocks.

So how can I use it? Do i just put it in any type of HOT filter and fill it with media? I do not have those filters...

Its too big for the HOT magnum filter, its for the Magnum 220 or 350.

It must be for a newer model, I have older magnum 350s and none of them have anything inside the shell(frame).

It's for the HOT magnum filters. You can put activated carbon or any other media in it, put cover back on and slip filter sleeve over it.
