It was labeled as a Lion fish at the store. The only lion fish i have ever heard of is the saltwater kind. it was being sold for 40 bucks.

brackish/freshwater stonefish or lionfish.

Most need brackish water to thrive.

They sell them in some of the Asian markets here....to eat. They don't seem to move around very much.

I just thought that it looked really neat. he looks like to be at 6 inches or so. what types of things do they eat?

The ones you see in Asian markets are probably Oyster Toadfish, a saltwater relative. The OP's fish is called a Freshwater Stonefish, but it's actually a type of Toadfish. They tend to do much better in brackish water, and they can apparently be almost impossible to switch from live fish, which is odd, because Oyster Toadfish will eat anything they can fit in their mouths.
