Saw at friend's house the other day. Approx. 18". Almost one year old. the smaller version is white. It is native species here (good food apparently) but popular as a pet too.

Despite small aquarium it is quite friendly and responsive.

I am thinking of adopting him, but not sure how agro it is and whether it will be compatible with my RTCs, gars and paimas.

This is the same owner that gave me my third gator gar

Cheers everyone

PS: hmmm looks quite tricky to move ...

Hmmmm, this one got teeth outside its mouth ... i am fairly sure giant gourami's that i saw before were not so spiky - but definitely looks like a giant gourami ...perhaps a variation?

I was feeding it with frogs that my friend keeps near the aquarium ...interesting it sorta inhales them

Get um'... if he attacks the RTC....cook um' up.

gentle giants.

Looks agro though with all them teeth and spikes ... cook him? then my friend ask about him, what to say? Nice deep fried with garlic lol?

What is it really? I am sure i have seen giant gouramis and they did not have teeth like that.

Anyone else have this fishie? .... errr in proper set-up. I searched the gourami section of MFK but didnot recall something similar. Giant gouramis did not look like this

to me it looks like the upper lip been really tore down that it couldn't grow back.
it's a Giant gourami.
keep it or eat it.
