What is this green fish? and is it salt or fresh?

Looks like a young Scatophagus sp., usually from brackish water

i believe when they're really young they tolerate freshwater much better, perhaps thats what he meant

That's no scat. The colors are certainly reminiscent, but the shape is all wrong, where's the forehead?

Ive never seen anything like it. If you find out what it is, let us know. If its brackish and stays relatively small, it'd go well in my tank!

BTW, scats do just fine for a lifetime in well maintained low-salinity BW tanks, IME.
