We caught this in florida behind my house. im going to try some cast netting this summer

BTW if this is the wrong section please move. i am thinking mayan

Florida has an amazing selection of cichlids, especially down south. When my dad lived in Miami I caught a bunch of port cichlids one summer in the retention pond behind his condo. We also saw tons of oscars in the ditches alongside the road.

I wish I had the tank space... I'd go fishing later this year when I head down to the Keys and bring back some "wild" cichlids.
 
yeah thats a nice size Mayan. I love it here. On the South Florida fishing thread theres a pic of a 3 foot Tiger Shovelnose someone saw while fishing closer to Miami. Plannin on heading further down soon to get some Jaguars and Oscars. And maybe try for that TSN. Hahahaha. You never know what youl get when you go fishin here.

thats awesome dude....i didnt know they were that close lol...i could totally dig some wild oscars from the keys lol...im in michigan though...go blue ;) lol
