this ray has been doing fine and one morning i woke up and noticed a black mark on it and just fed him and left him alone and then the next day it looked like it does in the picture! what could this bee from and how do i cure it ! please help .... also he eats fine and is very active

That's a burn if ever I did see one
 
nothing funny here.... pretty serious thing, could stress the ray and kill it, could get infected... not really a laughing matter
 
i didnt mean it like that , i really care about this ray and he is beautiful and i will do everything i could to make sure that this burn heals up, ANY other advice that would help me cure it ?
 
Relax. Burns like these don't kill a ray if you got the rest of the perimeters right. I prefer a separate filtration chamber when i can put all internal pumps, heater, probes etc... aesthetically more pleasing and functionally safer.

I would not increase the temperature too much to prevent a bacteria bloom. Just clean water will do. The best thing about rays is thats 99% of the time thats all they need to heal themselves.

I swear more rays are killed by owners trying something funny to solve the problem than the problem itself.
