What is this on my brown knife?

Where the Ducks Walk on the Fish, Pennsylvania
I just got it night before last. It was a part of the deal I got off of CL. The tank itself was gross. 1 of the RD that came with it has HITH. I just noticed this this morning on the knife and do not know what it is. He is now in a 55 with a green terror that also came from the 110 gal that I got.

Questions

1. What is it?
2. How to treat it?
3. Is it contagious?

The red spot in front of his fin, close to his gill plate. It is actually a raised bump. I have never had knife fish before so I don't know if it is suppose to be there. I will try to get a better pic.
 
some type of fish cancer maybe. either way, you may want to consider removing the bump if it gets any bigger, it may save the fish's life.
 
He has been in with 3 RD, 1 GT in really nasty water. I just got him a couple of days ago and would like to add him to my community tank to get him away from the bad *sses. I just don't want him to give what ever this is to my other fish.
 
tumors can be helped with salt, but since knives are scaleless, I wouldn't take the risk.
