I noticed this today and immediately changed 20% of the water and added aquarium salt. What is this and how do I treat it? Sorry for crappy picture, the best one I can take right now. Thanks guy.

Name I can't remember, but if I am not mistaken thats the parasite that will not cause any damage to your fish. He will just hang there forever. Catch him and try to use your finger nail to carefully get it off, or treat the tank. I am sorry I can't remember the name, and yes it will multiply if I remember correctly. (sad I can't remember the name because i was talking to someone about it earlier at the my local shop :(

OMG! Are you telling me my fish will have to spend the rest of his life with that thing hanging out of his tail? Will anything get rid of it?

LOL, nah man I am just saying they can hang out for the life of the fish and have little/no affect. I guess in a sever case it could get bad. Just use a parasite remover. It is treatable like any other parasite. I just wouldn't freak out about it. If I were you I would treat it of course. I get mad if one of my fish is missing 1 scale...thats just me.

Would you be able to recommend a medication for him? I was thinking about getting some melafix for him. I definitely want to get rid of that pimple. I can't stand to have my fish out of shape like that... not that its that bad but it's nothing nice to look at. When your 3 yr old daughter says to you "Daddy, your fishy got a pimple", it's kind of embarrassing...and funny.

Metronidazole
I've heard things about that medication. Can someone clear this up, is this medication in fact an over the counter medication? I heard that it is in Asia but not here in America. Also, how would you treat your fish with this medication? In your filter? Dissolve in water and pour into tank? I have even heard of people saying force-feed your fish the medication. Help?

It is best treating fish by ingestion. Pound the tablet to powder form and smear the foods with it. Feed the fish with it. You can dose it in your tank straight away but best results are always be ingestion.

We don't forcefeed fish. That is stressful unless you misinterpret it as encouraging the fish to eat instead by increasing the temperature and using garlic extract on the foods to increase its appetite and metabolism.

Lupin have you done this before? To be honest I haven't had to much experience with this. (lucky I guess my fish never really got sick). I just always mix it in a little water then dump it in. If it is liquid form I just drop it in.
I can vouge for the garlic though!!!!

Yes with discus. But this helps with internal parasites, not that "pimple".
