Definitely! Remove as much as possible and vacuum just the very top layer of gravel to reduce organic buildup like poop/food etc.You kinda just want to skim the surface with the gravel vac.A temporary reduction in light would help also.Strong light or sunlight,excess organics etc will cause this algae and it could eventually bloom and cover the whole tank.It's pretty much the most common algae and is normally refered to as hair or thread algae.In worse cases(the wild) it can cover a lake etc and is called blanket weed.
