It goes from my girls belly and is about 12 inches long. It is a yellowish color

I have 3 plecos and one convict. They have been very active. My husbands adult nephew was visiting and said his pleco (the only pleco in a tank with sharks, angelfish, koi and others) hid. Mine swim all over the tank. They suck on the fake log and flowers. They suck on the bubble air led lights. They chase each other. Tonight I dropped 3 waffers into the tank just as I do every night. They got crazy as if they never eat. I dropped 3 then 2 more sinking carnivor pelets for the convict and the convict also acted starved. I am freaking out because I had a pleco die a few weeks ago from stress. It had white strings hanging off of it. This is not a white string. It's an orangish color. Is it poo? Can poo be 12" long? Also, one of my girls has a round spot that resembles a "rub" spot. It showed up 2 days ago. I dont know if she rubbed something wrong or if she got into a tousle with one of the others.

Any advice would be helpful. I have been a fish mom since July when I took over fish duties.

If you are serious, it's just poop. Plecos do this.

The white string of poop tends to mean there is some kind of infection. It doesn't surprise me the pleco died. Any color other then white is ok. It can change depending on what you are feeding him/her.

I think it is the poo. It hardly could be anything else.

White strings hanging from the body sound like excess mucus, which means the fish was very stressed.

I sure don't miss those long lengths of pleco poop all over the tank.

Thank you. I was hoping it was poo after whay happened to my other baby. I searched online and this one person said a long string of any color was parasites so I freaked. I have been in charge of them since july and have not seen anything like this before. Now I know why they are called piggies.

I get white string poo on my flowerhorns from time to time. I just fast them for a day or two and they're okay. Happened to me twice and they all are fine.
