I've been helping a customer for a few months... she was given a tank with three fish in it. (Knew nothing about tank maintenance, fish, anything)

After some going back and forth trying to determine tank size and what kind of fish she had, we came to the conclusion that it was a 20gal with a red oscar, plecostomus and some type of catfish.

Got her filtration and maintenance straightened out and she set out to find a bigger tank for her buddies.

She got something around a 40 for the oscar (better than a 20 i guess) but didn't want to keep the catfish. She said it looked like an eclipse catfish, so I said i'd take it.

What she brought me today is certainly not an eclipse... i'm not sure what it is. All i know is it looks like it's going to get big and now i have to remove the marbles from my tank before he chokes!

Any ideas?

Brown Bullhead?

If it's a brown bullhead (looks like one to me too) it'll get around a foot and a half long. They are total food hogs too :D

I can handle 18". Glad to hear he's not gonna be absolutely huge :)

Unfortunately the bass has decided he HATES that catfish, so now i've got to do some fancy rearranging. The bass doesn't realise the catfish is twice his size (likewise the catfish doesn't seem to realise the thing biting him is half his size and won't retaliate)

Yeah, Brown Bullhead with damaged/deformed snout.

Haha, I have the same pottery ornament :D

I think his rounded nose is kind of endearing! :P

The pottery was great when all the catfish were small, but now i'm needing new caves!
