What is this?

It breathes air from the surface. It has tiny nostrils that stick out like a bichirs. It's active and swimming all over the tank.

It's eating cichlid gold sinking right out of the bag.

Wyomingite is right..it's a climbing perch. aka ikan puyu in malay. It's widely distribute in forest streams, canal, drains, pond, paddy fields and etc. It's a tough fish. it can move 1 place to another by it's spiky gills and body. Locals here believes this fish can ward off evil spirits and black magic. size approx. 25cm max. need not use filters or oxgyen pump to keep.
