I think it's one of those fish that live very deep down the ocean. I'd think you would need a special tank for it, due to its atmospheric pressure requirements.

Could be something along the barracuda genus? Have you checked pics of different species of this genus on the web? Never know... So hard to tell, especially when they had their scales removed (that's what it seems on the pic anyways hehe).
 
Thats a mug only a mother could love (or a bunch of fish nuts like us)
 
I am pretty sure that is a daggertooth, Marine cold water, colder as they get larger, sometimes found in surface waters but more common in the depths, to 2000 meters. maxes out at just over 58". there are three species that I can't tell apart. This is a pic from fishbase of the largest species (Anotopterus nikparini)

once again, the guru got it right it seems. the tails look the same in both pictures which convinces me. what did you mean you found it surfing? surfing the net or did this thing meet you at the surface?
