I have a 220 gallon tank stocked with one CK and one motoro stingray. I had the CK in the tank first for about a week by itself, then I added the stingray. They have been in the tank together for about three/four weeks now. A few days ago I noticed eyelash size, white worm looking things floating all around in the water. They appear to be alive and there appear to be gnat looking things floating around on top of the water, but they appear to be dead. I have never seen anything like this in a fishtank, and I have a few set up. Has anyone had any exprience with this, and what do I do to get rid of them? What can they do to the CK and the stingray? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if this will help much, since my english isnt the best.
But ill try.

Its not unusual when you start up your aquarium, and let it build up its bacterialculture, that these little worms slowly come to life.
Theyre known as planeries (in norwegian anyways..) or tricladida. N. They are completly harmless, but they dont look pretty. Usually people dont see these since most people have lil fishes that eat them, tetras and the like.

The tiny white ones you see floating in the water is just as harmless, it sounds like a daphnia, these can also just out of nowhere pop up, but most likely conencted to the food your using. These are often actually bred for additional food for smaller fish. But yours seems to have died, since theyre just floating at the top. Usually you can see these swim around in groups.

I get these when feeding alot. Try to make sure there is no access food left over. Silver dollars, tinfoil barbs or loaches will eat them and also take care of the left over food bits.
