my aunt judy found it at her house down in florida it looks like some type of basilisk to me:confused: but idk it also has a hydrosaurus look too but look at the hind legs no little fringes ????

It's definitely an anole species. It looks like a Brown Anole with a very big crest. It could also be a Crested Anole. I think we have feral populations of them in Florida.

crested anole looks like a good candidate
 
That my friend is a mature male brown anole Anolis sagrei in full breeding mode;) And yes they get thouse owesame crests wich normaly are retracted. My male green does that all the time and its really neat

orly? ididnt know they got crests or those colors thats pretty awesome i didnt think they got that big either:D

oh i just realized(googled that s***) that that isnt the florida native brown its the cuban lol i see
 
Well I beleave the photo is oversized but yes the crests are normaly hidden and only come out to show of to females and keep other males at bay

wait arre all the brown anoles in florida non native? or is there a native type of brown anole

i never really cared about anoles that much so i have no clue

The only native species from the US its the green anole Anolis caroliniensis;) All the others are non native. Anoles make great display pets, more people should try them. The clues to keep them healty are alone housing, lots of plants and small active prey.
