I recently bought 3 angels from my lfs and all 3 of them have this growth on their little stringy fins plus a small spot on their tail. In case you can't see in the pic it is slightly pinkish.

oh and they didn't come with this growth noticed it a few days after they got home...no other fish were sick (or at least looked sick before)
Also, my african butterfly is starting to get the same thing in his fins (the spindly little ones that hang below)

it looks like ich which is a cycle of white spot those little pink lumps are probably full of parasites which will get released into the water soon and infect all of your fish with it. so search "ich" or "white spot" there is tones of info on how to treat this on mfk. lol at your sig mfk keeps me off facebook too.

i dont think thats ich. im actually pretty sure of it. looks like a fungus or bacteria even. ich is a parasite. probably from getting nipped by other fish.
not to sureabout the solution, but i would start asap with a antibacterial/fungal asap cause that crap spreads fast.

It's not ich. I'm guessing fungus. Params are all right, correct? The addition of these fish could have stressed your biological filter, creating less-than-optimal water parameters, and so everyone's sort of having a hard time, and so they're more susceptible to fungus. Since your other fish are starting to exhibit this, I'd definitely check them. Something similar to this happened to my angels when I skipped a water change and nitrates rose. They were little fuzzy bumps on the spines of the fins.

there was actually a few other fish in the tank that are fine..but they don't have the same thin fins that hang down
that fin description is weak..but i dunno what they are called

The "stringy" fins are ventral fins.

You haven't stated what your water parameters are. Please include tank size, tankmates, maintenance schedule, foods used, treatment used and other symptoms observed. The more details you can tell us, the better.

10 gal tank
nitrates jumped a little..but not very much because I neglected last weeks water change (wasn't home cause of my birthday)
water change was done last night.
The tank is a bit overstocked waiting for their next tank to be open.
There is a 3-4" african butterfly, 3-4" hoplo cat, 7" farlowella cat, 1.5" zebra loach, 2 small cory cats and the 3 angels (who are quite small and have been moved to a 5 gal med tank)
I haven't noticed any other symptoms besides thins stuff on them...when they swim fast and when I was moving them to the med tank this stuff would fall off.
