What is this?

I am a school bus aide in mahtomedi mn. This morning, we got to our first stop, and heard screaming when the garage door opened. We ran to check it out And this little guy was on the floor in the garage. I am assuming its an aquatic animal and we took it with us to drop it off in a nearby pond. I googled crayfish and it doesn't seem to match. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks!

Yup odd to find in a driveway, just common crayfish

Really? Is it a different species or a juvenile? It looks different than the ones a google search gave. I'm assuming it can breathe air then and just went for a walk?

Yeah it's def a mud bug.. It looks like he took some damage to his tail and is oozing something. Other than that he looks like a normal crayfish to me..
