what is this..?!

So I took a visit at my lfs and came across a label saying "red cichlid". Then i thought maybe they mean its a Red devil or a Midas so i bought one for 7.85$ and it's so weird... i dont know what it is.. but it's in my 25g juvenile tank with convict and a green terror help please.

Looks like a Red Devil/Midas/Midevil to me.

Its an unfaded/fading midevil. Most likely a midas-red devil cross.

Amphilophus citrinellum- midas
Amphilophus labaitus- red devil

Thats crazy because i found something like that also at one of my lfs and it was with the red texas.. Well i also bought it n it looks like this now.....

But i think urs has different eye color

Same thing, a fading MiDevil. Gotta love those LFS and their dumb *** labeling.

That is normal coloration for young of that Amphilophus complex , most lose the black coloration as they get older.

Eli173: Yeah yours is a fading midevil as well. I know we made some pretty wild guesses when we first saw it, but now it's undoubtly a fading midevil.

sorry to bug you but i'm new on this site and i would like to know how you posted up this picture. I want to know if you guys can help me determine what kind of fish i have also. i dont know if i have a red devil or a midas. thanks

Unless you bought it from a reputable source that listed it as pure Midas or red devil it is my understanding that there is no way to know and as such it will be classified as a Midevil. It has to come from known pure parents in order to verify purity. I am told there is no way to visually make a 100% distinction otherwise. Hope this helps.
