It is sculpin.

I wasn't sure which kind of sculpin though, I've never seen one personally that looked like that

Yes, it's a sculpin. Cottus sp. Many of the species are very similar so it's hard to identify more specifically.

not sure whats native to your state, slimy and mottled sculpins are the two I have around me, in fact I've got one (no idea which species though I think its a mottled lol) in my growout tank as we speak lol. Awesome fish, shoulda kept him for a native tank!

I was think bullfrog x pleco!

Unfortunately it swallowed the hook since it didn't even try to take the worm it just swallowed it and I decided to reel in after awhile and bam there it was

But I definitely want to catch one this summer if we go back there! And maybe some perch but I think it'd be a better idea getting perch closer to home
