Any idea what that is? It wasn' like that yesterday. The pickerel has been acting off the last 4 or 5 days and today I noticed this.

Has it been hitting the glass. Sometimes seen when rubbing or repetitive contact with glass. Also looks like it’s jaw is out of place. Is it feeding ok? Would reduce stress. See plants in ur tank and may need more to keep it from bumping into stuff. These are darting fish so my 2 cents.

He hasn' been hitting the glass. He ate a couple days ago a couple feeders and then spit them back put about 5 hours later which never happens. Ever since then he hasn' moved much. Then that came up today. I' wondering if maybe it' some sort of parasite or something?

What have u been feeding him? Not goldfish right?

Looks like his jaw is injured to me. Which could definitely be from bumping into the glass. What size tank and how big is he?
A better picture would help, can't see this one that well

Where it is and what it looks like I don' think it could be from bumping into something. I have had that happen before just not exactly where this injury is located. He' about 4 inches in a 125.

Huh, we won't be able to give too much insight based off that picture. Feeding goldies and rosies, your fish is pretty much guaranteed to get parasites, unless you breed them yourself. Those fish are kept in terrible conditions before they get to you, and most of them have some sort of ailment. I'm not sure if pickerel will eat frozen or pellet food, but it would be much better if you could get him off the live fish, or if you were to breed your own feeders.

Breed your own feeder fish such as baby cichlids, crickets, grasshoppers, guppies, triops, river shrimp, earthworms etc

I'e tried they won't eat anything else. And I get the minnows and put them in a tank by themselves and feed and keep water changed daily to try and get them as healthy as I can. I'e troednfrozen food pellets you name it. Never had any luck in the 3 years I've had pickerel.

I'l post abetted picture later.
