What is this?

I woke up to this this morning. Worried it could be some sort of worm or parasite. Could it just be poop though? I do feed frozen shrimp to my fish like from the supermarket.

Nothing to worry about. Looks like poop or remains from the frozen shrimp.

Well I hope it's not poop -- white poop is almost never a good sign in a fish tank. Can you net or siphon it out (which I would do in any case) for a closer inspection?

When I touched it it just smeared and the towel absorbed it.

I'm guessing poop. Keep an eye on the fish and monitor their health closely.
