I was given this fish and have no clue what it is but I freaking love it and want to know more about it! Thanks for any info! Fish is 3 inches

Looks like a thoricthys species, especially with the black spot on the body. The stripe below the eye is throwing me off. Stanzzzz7 do you maybe know what it is? Seems similar to meeki or ellioti (also referred to as maculipinnis)

looks like a juvenile Acarichtys Heckelii aka Threadfin Acara.

What are your water parameters? Water looks a little green. Definitely looks like some kind of Heckelii

Yes I agree it's a threadfin. These will only prosper in soft acidic water. I would at least add tannins for long term success with this species.

They average around 10+ inches as adults and will need a tank of 100 gals or more.
