In my 3g tank I’ve been cycling for a leach for a couple weeks now I’ve noticed biofilm growing but there’s a layer at the top of the water kinds like fibers, is this just a protein buildup since I haven’t gotten a filter in it yet or what is it?

Yes biofilm, not sure why you hAve a light on for a tank with no filtration or fish
Was the wood from a established aquarium if so probably die off .
Idk why I just keep it going with my regular lights on/off schedule with my other tanks.
No I had bought the wood just last week. It was rated for reptiles but was told it hadn’t been around any chemicals or sprays.
