What is wrong with my driftwood?

white slimy stuff feel like jello stuck to my driftwood.....i bought two of them online, but the other one looks great .
i soak both of them for like 3 days before put em in the tank n now one of them look like that

IDK I would love to know too because I sometimes have the same issue with my driftwood.

I had the same issue with one piece out of 4 I got. Just take it out and scrub it, thats what I did and it's fine now. Some sort of moss/algae I assume?

boil them for 1hr, should be able to get rid of it

No need to boil, it'll go away and you can help it go away by sucking it up with the gravel vac.

Yeah it should go away, I had this when I collected some driftwood and didn't disinfect in any way.

It's biological bacteria. They're quite fond of certain types and textures of wood. Just let it be and it will eventually recolonize in your canister.

When that happens to my drift wood, I just use my hand and vac to remove it.

just vac the majority away if it looks too bad and you dont like it. its nothing to worry about and it will disappear in time. so dont worry.
i put in 4 different bits of wood and 3 bits had this happen. and all the wood was from different sources so i ruled out contamination and later found out its nothing.
