whats up with my pleco? :( i noticed something is not right whn i came home today... hes kind of darker than ussual and he keeps gasping for air? or what it looks like hes trying to get out of the aquarium... :( and i noticed that hes not really swimming normal it would go up and dive down like he has no energy... im really worried abt it...its not eating its veggies and discs too.. its a 10inch l001... i changed 50% water as a precautionary method and add salt. temp ryt now is @ 84deg celsius. whats is wrong with it and what do i have to do? :(

i took a small video clip of it while doing my water change so u guys can see what im talking about. lets just wait for youtube processing time... here is it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-C1EfTFuRw

Two thoughts here: he doesn't like the music, or the tank is too hot.

Seriously - I've had plecs do that before, where they swim themselves right up against the glass and appear to "launch" themselves in an effort to get out. It usually leads to nothing as long as you have a secure lid. I can't speak for it going off feed or apparent lethargy, but from your video he appears fine. But I believe your tank is 84 degrees Fahrenheit. 84 degrees Celsius is, well, quite warm. If that was the case I wouldn't blame your plec for jumping out ;)

Maybe a possible internal parasite? My little aro just one day became ill for no reason that I could think of. Anyhow, after I treated the tank and he's back..Just wanted to put the possibility there, hope your pleco does better. See how he does on added salt and 82 degrees first...:D

the tank is defitnaly to hot for one the maxium recomend temp for plecos is 82 degrees i think they are better off with even a lower temp if the other fish in the tank are good with it ideally for a pleco the temp would be around 78 but make sure you dont lower the temp to fast or it could cause shock and kill the fish
