I just noticed this a couple of days ago and did a 50% water change. He acts fine and still eats but, I have never seen this on either one of my rays. Thanks for the help. ~Jamie~

i think it may be some love bite. lol... i have a pregneant female have this too. is looks like some minor injury due to bite from other ray or could be pleco too, see if there is fungus grow on them, if not, not a big deal. they recover soon, however if it get more, may be good to seperate them out into another tank.

I was thinking it might be from the other ray but they have been together for quite a long time and I have never seen this. The heaters in the tank are behind plants so that they can't get to them. I do have a snowball pleco but it never leaves the driftwood. I'm starting to think it's just a love bite. :grinno:

keep the water clean and add some salt.... also the pleco could be out @ night when you are not watching....

mate my female motoro has the same marks caused by my male when they were breeding but got much worse as the male just keeps trying to get her i have my male seperated from the female while she is pregnant , maybe get a heater guard for the heater to be shore , and sneak out in the middle of the night wen the tank lights are off to see if the pleco is lurking around the ray or sucking onto it...good luck...

..............also just thought he could be rubbing him self on somthing abrassive like a rock or sharp piece of wood..

Looks kike another ray bite, keep an eye on them but your male might start maturing.
Are it's claspers long or rolling yet (meaning , are the claspers starting to look like they are spiralling)?

My rays get the same marks from time to time. Mainly my female motoro biting my female castexi.
