My worst ever experience was when my 40 gallon busted and my 3 inch rose queen and oscar died but thats not all that happened ,the property owner was coming and there was water everywhere and my mom flushed all my fish down the toilet (that were in my other tanks) my jags and my midas all still around 3 inches.I just want to here some bad experiences or stories about your cichlids.:(

Wow, that's really bad! Sorry for you loss!

Mine was shortly after I got my 150 established. I had done some pretty big no-no's, but the fish all seemed to be doing fine. I bought a gorgeous Makobe Island male, small guy, but full of color. I put him in the tank and admired how good he looked.

The next morning, every fish of color I had was laying in the bottom of the tank. Anything white, pale or black was fine. Anything blue, yellow or orange was dead.

He is now living in a 40 with two females. No fry yet...

My worst experience is when I removed my 5" Rose Queen, who was the second in command in the tank. I removed her because my tank was getting a little overstocked due to everyone growing. It was a peaceful tank otherwise. Everyone got along great. If anything the Rose Queen was the most aggro in the tank but nothing that I had to step in about. Anyhow..... After removing her, My 7"Green texas which was 3rd in command assumed 2nd rank and along with my 4" convict destroyed my Synspilum. After losing my Syn, they turned on my 4" M festae which is now living in another, smaller tank. So from removing 1 fish I ultimately lost 3 from the main tank.

We were moving and I put 6 large Managuense, 4 large Jack Dempsey,
15'' common pleco, 2 12'' red pacu into a 55 gallon tank for two hours while we were moving our main tank, our boxer stepped on the glass at the old house and broke the 55 gallon tank and killed every fish listed above and he partial ate my Jack Dempsey

Ive had one where my JD jumped out of the 50 gallon bucket that had a midas, jag, carpintis, and green terror. I was moving so i put him in there temporarily. And he was my favorite

mine would be a i bought like four new ram cichlids the weird new gold and eletric blue ones and the next day bam all died... i assume it was me being new cause they had ich. lesson learned

mine would have to be the day i sold the biggest and prettest Carpnitis i ever saw. I work in a lfs in NC. and one day we got a trade in, a carp. He was every bit of 12" and over 10 years old. I told the owner i wanted him and no sooner than the words left my mouth a man said he wanted him and would pay anything for him. so i bagged the carp up and 200$ latter the fish of my dreams was gone to a new home.

Oh that really sucks, sorry about that. My worst experience was with an oscar jumping, he hit his head and was all limp so i had to put him down. He was about 14", I would so upset.
