Hi All. I've had my Pleco for more than a year and today I found him dead in the tank, a 60 gallon. He shared it with two Oscars, a Jewel Cichlid, Electric Yellow, and Parrot fish. They all got along for more than a year.
I am not sure how he died. I do know that there was less debris at the bottom of the tank since I added a new filter a month ago but I'm not sure that was the problem. I've attached a picture. He had some green stuff and a hole in his bottom flat-side. What could have caused this? Some sort disease from inside of him or did he just fall asleep on the heater and then die? Anyone have any ideas?
I'm going to change the water in the tank just in case. All other fish in the tank are healthy and active.
I fed the Pleco some algae wafers occasionally, maybe a few times a week.
