What kind a salt use for aquarium?

Anybody use salt for aquarium, what kind? Are there any salt that I can use instead aquarium salt that in pet mart? Someone tell me that I can use the salt in home depot too, I don't know is it true or not.
 
besides aquarium salt ive used epsom salt for constipation, as for the home depot salt...no im not sure but to be safe no

I understand that most on here are Freshwater, but are you talking about making Saltwater aquarium water? If so, then no salt than those made for SW aquariums should be used.
 
Just buy instant ocean in bulk, not worth the risk to save money since the inhabitants in a s/w tank are likely to be pretty expensive. If salt mix is a money issue, just stick with freshwater or give bracksih a try IMO
 
for salt water you need the "fancy" salt...

for fresh water.. you dont need salt.. thats why its fresh water...
if you are using it as a med.. then you can use kosher salt (from the grocery store) water softner salt (homedepot/lowes/ect)
 
Yep home depot is a god send for all of us :)
 
We talking about salt for fresh water, cause I know if I add some aquarium salt in my arowana feel more active and eat more.
For you guy how much salt of home depot that you use for each gallon of water?
