Does everybody use to take their awesome fish pics? Just wondering cause the cheapos that I have either make a giant flash spot on the glass or the fish are blurry. Also could you tell me how much your camera costs that would be awesome, thanks.

Fishman,

I highly recommend this camera:

http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-W80-Waterproof-Gunmetal-Gray/dp/B002ECF3HW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1273508230&sr=1-2

It takes great pictures, you can change all sorts of settings, and if you drop it in the tank it will be fine :-D Pentax may not be as well known as Nikon and Canon, but they make really nice cameras.

Also, try taking your pictures faster, if you can change the settings. I recommend hitting about 1/250 sec or, better yet, 1/500 sec. That means you'll need to get more light where you're taking the pic, up the ISO, or lower the f-stop.

Get close to the glass or get a polarizing filter to reduce glare!

Have fun!!! :-D

I use a Canon 50D and I am very happy with it. The camera cost about $1,000, the lens I use for most of them is a 18-55mm kit lens which you can find for a little over $100 on ebay, I use a Canon 430EXII flash ($250) as my primary flash with a Gary Fong diffuser. I also use two cheapie slave flashes. All of the flashes are above the tank and triggered by a cactus remonte.

Here are a few sample pictures.

Looking good Lowcel.

I used a Nikon D60 for most of my old pictures. Haven't had the opportunity to shot fish with my D90.

If your looking for a cheap DSLR, Adorama, J&R, B&H has really good one for cheap.

As for your current camera, try taking the pictures of your fish at a angle so the fish won't show in the photos.

pricing for new equipment:

d90 body only, $900

Adorama has a refurbished D90 for $600.

How do you like the 17-55mm lens?

man it's an awesome lens. i find that pics need less post processing with this lens. it picks up color and contrast much better than the kit lens i was using before. not to mention how SHARP this mutha is :naughty:

That lens is your daily user? For most of the walk around shot?
