In a dream
Sorry for the stuipid question but my roommate just bought all his plumbing to run his sump. Didnt think about it till we got home but is there a specific type of cement that we need to be fish safe? or any pvc cement is ok as long as its dry? Again sorry for the stupid question but i rather be safe than sorry. Thx in advance.

cement is alkaline. so when you finish your build, fill it up with water and add vinegar to it (hmmm not sure about proportion). as vinegar is acid, it will neutralize alkali. let it stand for some days days then washout.

I use plain PVC cement. Give it a couple of hours to dry completely and you will be fine. I've never had a problem.

Probably the most important part is letting it dry completely. While it's hard to wait to fill a tank, I would wait at least 24 hours, and perhaps 48, then rinse it off. And if you really want to be through, soak it over night in water before installing... but that should be plenty.
