what kind of cichlid is this??

I have had this cichlid for a while and he shares a home with a red zebra, bumblebee, and a blue zebra, but I have no idea what kind of cichlid it is (my wife got me the cichlid tank as a gift a few months ago, and suprised me with the tandk and fish) I really like this cichlid but it gets picked on really bad and was thinking of moveing him to my community tank because he doesnt seem aggressive at all, but cant do any research on him because i have no idea what he is any help would be very much appreciated.

thanks for the info, he is getting picked on soo bad do you think it would be safe to move him into a community tank with a sevrum, 4 tinfoils, and some snake skin gouramies?

i say go for it
watch him
when i had one he was 8 inches and lived with mollies
they tend to be rather passive.. or atleast in my case
i say do it before he dies

I eventually moved it and other malawis out of the tank and out of my collection (the d. kiwinge died unfortunately). I don't have any more malawis except for an eye biter that I'm growing out

Eye biters are cool,I especially like the albino strain.

View attachment 435334These fish are also known as red fins or kandango red fin.. some common names.. they are less aggressive then most haps from lake malawi.. they are beautiful. here is mine.. when stressed they get washed out looking.. i would try him in community tank.. what fish do you keep in the community tank?
