What kind of cichlid is this?

I purchased this fish at my LFS and was told is was a Snook Cichlid. he's about 1 1/2 inches long. After doing some research on Snook Cichlids I found there's not much info on them. I know there's a red bay snook and another wild morph type. Neither of which look like this fish. can someone please confirm this is a snook, or tell me what I purchased. thanks!!!

It's Petenia splendida. Just like it was sold as. Looks like it's starting to change to the red form. The wild coloration and red morph are identical, except for the color. Plenty of info on them floating around the internet.

Yep, it is indeed a Bay Snook. S/he looks like that because s/he is a juvie. At that size, most cichlids have different patterns and colorations to the adult form (i.e. none).

But the mouth and body shape is definitely P. splendida.
