What kind of crab is this???

I thought I saw this crab in my tank about three months ago in a piece of live rock I bought but was so small and hiding I couldn't tell!
WELL, this morning when I turned my lights on this monster (about 1 1/2 -2" wide was out!
Is this thing a MITHRAX [spelleing] CRAB???

im not sure if its an emerald (mitrax) or not. Looks like it could be, but then the red eyes and more bulky look are telling me something else. my next guess would be xanthid crap, another common hitchhiker

OK now I know its a xanthid crab!! Should I remove this monster or leave him be???

I just read up on this guy And he is really no good for the tank!

This would also explaine the loss of a few hermit crabs and snails!!

Why donn't you put him in your sump? That way he can eat and be helpful to the tank but away from the coral.

I'm gonna as soon as I got a pump and over flow for my sump?!?!?!

I don't have corals yet but I will and untill then he's gonna have to chill! I think I'll actually spot feed him now I know his hideing spot, that way he wont be as aggresive towards the others in the tank!
