These fish where bought as "Crenicichla sp. 'Green' ". I was told they were caught in Peru by the shop owner.

I have looked and looked at pictures on the net, but with no luck.
Does anyone know which kind of crenicichla this is?

They are about 12 cm (4,7 inches) long, and the female is the one with the red pattern at the top, I belive :) Before they lay the eggs, the female had a strong red colored belly.

Thanks for any responses.

Nice! Can't wait to hear some of the more experienced guys chip in with an ID. Are these pics current? How many fry are there?

Cr. proteus. One of the best looking and smaller sax-types.

Thanks everyone for the responses. :)

Lets just hope that the one Cr. proteus that I did not manage to catch (had 6 of them int his aquarium from they where juveniles) survive these two. Last time I saw it, it looked a bit beaten up :(
