First time posting pics via app, let's see if it works...

Can someone tell me what kind of wood this is? Might be difficult to tell.

Looks like a log off a tree that was sitting in a river. Fill bathtub up w/ scalding water + cap full of bleach let soak a day, drain water, refill tub w/ dechlor and hot water. Let dry for a week and u should be good!

It could be a hardwood of some sort. I wouldnt worry to much unless you know its of the conifer species( pines) . If you scratch it and sniff it and it doesnt have a smell like eucalyptus or other "spicy" aroma, you should be ok. Pine is soft and breaks down easy, eucalyptus could be poisonous as could a red wood or cedar.
Anyway, just soak it and soak it again. Change the water and soak some more. If you did get it from a water logged situation, soaking it may not be enough.
Scrub,rinse, soak, repeat.

Thanks fellas. I leaned towards cedar but as I trimmed it with a chainsaw I didn't smell anything. I pressure washed it as its now in a pond trying to sink it.

I'm worried it's cedar...
