what kind of earth eaters?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The ones that rest on the botton are a Retroculus species, either Retroculus septentrionalis or lapidifer. Oddly they are no longer considered geophagine cichlids by Kullander due to new DNA evidence ... which sounds crazy btw. :screwy:

There are also some Geophagus types in there, but wouldn't be able to ID them for ya.

thanks for the ID,

i put the scientific name into google and the pictures look the same as the ones in the video...

Another cool fish for me to want:D

Deffinately neat fish, basically river rapids geo's ... both are neat, but my fav of the genus is Retroculus xinguensis. Look them up for the color in their fins ... it's amazing.

They are seasonal and don't ship well. Rapps has had them a couple of times, but they are still rare in the hobby.
