Alright, I've decided I want an eel to go along in my tank. At first I was looking at a polypterus senegalus, but it didn't look like a real eel. More like a skinny fish. I'm wondering what type of eel will get along with my Oscar and where can I get one.

Fire Spiny Eel.:) Your lfs should have one.:)

I agree, Fire Eel, but they get large.

If you like the look of sengals...a ropefish looks like a stretched out sengal. I wouldn't put it in with an oscar though. Do a fire eel. =)

fire or tire track would be nice!

Personally I'd vote for the fire eel as well. They are a very fun eel to keep. They do get very big though.

Any of the spiny eels: Peacocks, tire tracks, fires.

Polypterus are not eels! Do not get a "Freshwater" moray, they do not do well in freshwater. Also, don't get a rubber eel because they are actually amphibian. Any of the spinies will work though. How big is this tank?

My tank is 55 gallons for now... We only have 2 LFS in my county, and neither of them had a fire eel, or any freshwater eel for that matter... Then I went to 3 out of county this afternoon, and none of them had a fire eel... Only one had 2 very small peacock eels, and they didn't look to be to healthy... Anyone know where I could perhaps order one from?

hey...i had a tire teack eel and i also have a jack dempsy. you said that u have an oscar. my tire track was killed by the jack dempset so i am not quite sure how a tire track would hold up against an oscar...how big is the oscar...and how big is the tank???
