What is the maximum size of a Mastacembelus dayi?? I was hoping it was a tire track...I guess if it isn't I'll be on the hunt again.

According to fishbase, they get to 12", but the website below claims that they can actually get to 20". Although tbh, I don't trust their info anymore, after they claimed that what was actually a tiretrack eel was a peacock and was only 10" after 18 years (obviously a lie).

And this is the page with the TT eel that they were trying to convince me was actually a peacock eel (it's the eel in the first pic on the page):

Looks just like the one I picked up.. 12-20inches is what I've seen. the 12" is based on 3 specimens collected.. but they've been imported for the pet-trade as large as 20" supposidly. I'de say realistically 12"+ so a 75 should be adequite or a 125. My guy is still very reclusive. seems to be as boisterous as a TT though, I've already had to block off the HoB as he went up into my filter the night I got it.

Judgeing from the head size/body. I'm inclined to believe they get respectably size. their not as "petite" looking as a peacocks or zig zags head imo.

Black Leopard eel is the common name.

I agree, based on the body and head shape alone, I would expect them to get fairly large (although I doubt they get quite as big as tire tracks).
