What kind of feeder fish do you feed your cichlas? I am new to Pbass and just bought my first one. It's about 3 in. So too small for silversides. He/she won't take anything other than feeders.

What is the most nutritional feeders to give it? I have access to comets, mosquito fish, and rosy reds. The rosies would be ideal because they are the easiest to obtain but I heard that they are not very healthy due to thiaminase or some enzyme like that.

So far I fed it some mosquito fish but it won't take anything else. I have tried wax worms, bloodworms, market shrimp and freeze dried krill

Roseys and comets both have the same nutritional problems. Your best bet is to read the sticky about getting cichla off of live food and feed rosies until you can get him to eat pellets.

I am surprised he won't take the bloodworms. I wouldn't try starving him until you get him into the 5-6 inch range and nice and fat, also keep an eye out for ick small p-bass are infamous for getting it especially after a move

Good luck they are awesome fish :)

luckily my small guys ate prepared food from the get go. but feeder guppies or rosey reds should do the trick. just make sure you quarentine them and feed them a good flake or pellet food.

get them on shrimp and pellets i know its easyer said then done but i usto spend 40$ on guppys and mollys a week to feed my 2 monos when they were little and now i look back and it was stuped and foolish. its to dangerous to feed live unless you quarintine them first or breed your own.
