This would highly depend on what type of fish you are keeping, as different kinds of fish produce different, size, amount, type, etc of waste/mess...
You also have to ask yourself what are your filtration goals...
Do you want the filters to keep the tank in near perfect condition and you maintain the filters...
Or do you want the filters to simply keep the tank helathy and you keep the tank clean via maintenance...
The common theory is that a sump or wet/dry is "the best" filtration, but if your goal is to get solid waste off the bottom a wet/dry that sucks water off the surface only will be basicaly useless at serving your goal...
In short, there is no "the best" when it comes to filters. Each style has pros and cons... as does each model...
